We group together all retail banking businesses of Société Générale for individuals, self-employed professionals and small and medium-sized businesses. In 2007 we recruited 2,100 people on permanent contracts.

Our branch network is our prime asset

Current accounts, property loans and consumer credit, savings and investments, insurance and personal protection: we offer a wide range of banking products and services to some eight million individuals and several hundred thousand businesses and self-employed professionals in France. Our growth is based on a network of more than 2,200 branches, backed up by multimedia Customer Relations Centres and customer service units. 27,000 staff members are employed in the branch network on a daily basis.

We listen carefully to each one of our clients

The substantial growth in activity in 2007 reflects the constant attention we pay to all our clients and their needs. As a result:

  • the number of personal current accounts has exceeded the five million mark, while in long-term savings products, life insurance policies taken out with our network reached EUR 7.9 billion in 2007.
  • business customers have shown a growing interest in the personalised service they receive in our network. On this market, which has major development potential, average outstanding sight deposits amounted to EUR 11.7 billion, up by 11.3%.
In 2006, we achieved the best ratings for bank staff competence (attentiveness and understanding of client needs).*

We are constantly innovating

We are continuously improving the quality of our services and always strive to innovate. In 2006, we made a new direct banking service available to our customers: bank transfer by mobile phone. This is the latest addition to our multimedia offering, which enables our clients to use tools that are ideal for their everyday needs, their habits and their lifestyles.
