Students
At Société Générale, internships and work-study contracts enable you to actively participate in the life of the company. We entrust you with complete missions. You can thus work in a paid job while gaining your first experience of banking sector businesses.
Internships: your first experience of the banking universe
We offer internships lasting from three months to one year, during your studies or as an internship at the end of a study course. The aim: to give you valuable professional experience to facilitate your integration into professional life.
You will have the time to show your potential and prove your commitment during the missions. Depending on the opportunities available in the network, and your internship appraisal, we will consider recruiting you.
Amélie
Bordeaux School of Management
"Société Générale operates in the world's main financial centres, and that opened up big opportunities for me.
After two years at the Bordeaux Business School I felt I wanted to put the theory I had learned into practice, and so I decided to take a full-year internship.
I carried out my first six-month internship at SG New York as a credit analyst. I was able to discover the world of corporate finance from studies of client companies, their financial statements and their environment to their products and their competitors. At the end of this extremely worthwhile internship, I was eager to further my experience at Société Générale, but this time in France.
Today I am in Paris in the Strategy and Marketing Department. In fact I am the assistant of a product manager specialising in the international market. We provide support to SMEs operating internationally: we create products to suit their needs, we draw up commercial documentation, and instructions for the branches.
Alongside this mission, I am helping to draw up the brochures for each country and to redefine the SME offering. The internship is comprehensive, interesting and good training, and enables me to express all my creativity. I really appreciated being able to change posts, moving from finance to marketing, without changing company. In fact I wanted a broad perspective before choosing my specialisation in the 3rd year. Now I know what I want: to be taken on by the Société Générale Group."

Transforming part-time training contracts into permanent positions
“The banking profession remains buoyant. Our Group frequently offers permanent positions following a part-time training period. In this way and ever faithful to its creed “we stand by you”, the Group helps young people enter the world of employment.”
Anne Marion-Bouchacourt,
Group Human Resources Director, Societe Generale |
This formula is specifically targeted at people with two kinds of profile:
- Two-three year course of university studies
Get ahead! Combining your theoretical studies with work experience makes your course more stimulating. This experience is particularly suitable for technical diploma candidates (for example, in banking and insurance, sales unit management, international commerce, customer negotiations and relations, accounting and management), technical degrees (marketing and/or management, etc.) and professional degrees (Back Office/Middle Office, banking and finance, etc.). Depending on your speciality, we will offer you a work-study contract as an Individual Client Advisor or Back Office Manager in Corporate & Investment Banking or in Global Investment Management & Services.
Virginie
Banking diploma
"I chose a work-study contract to prepare for my Banking diploma because this is the only training mode which offers, in addition to theoretical training, genuine, paid professional training.
Last year, I joined a branch in the Paris region. When I arrived, we defined my functions with my coach, the Branch Manager. I started out as a Counter Advisor, and today I work in a two-person team with Individual Client Advisors.
This experience has enabled me to gain a good knowledge of the commercial professions of the branch, and gives me an advantage should I wish to join the Société Générale Group at the end of my contract."
- 4-5 year course of university studies
You want to put your theoretical knowledge to work.
In Retail Banking (Professional or Business Account Manager, Branch Manager or Assistant) and Corporate & Investment Banking (Assistant Trader, Middle Office Manager), we regularly take master's degree, business school and engineering school students on work-study contracts.
Anne-Solène
Assistant Branch Manager
"Following a professional university qualification in commercial management, I wanted to take a training course that would really enable me to join the employment market. From the initial recruitment interviews onwards Société Générale really took my personality and my skills into account to offer me a perfectly adapted training course, taught by banking sector professionals. What I liked was that I was immediately able to compare theory with practice during the periods spent in the branch, and thus have a new vision of banking professions. These are the reasons why I chose a work-study contract with Société Générale."
CITIZEN ACT: Invent the bank of tomorrow
How could Société Générale enhance the company's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility? This is the theme of the online business game
CITIZEN ACT intended for engineering, business and university students from across the world.
Each team of students develops its project via a wikiblog, interacting with a Société Générale "ambassador" from the group's personnel.
After 3 weeks of gaming, the top 6 teams qualify for the CITIZEN ACT Final Contest, during which they present their projects to a Jury who selects the winners.
The winners will be given the opportunity to embark upon an eco-friendly trip or have their project put into action within Société Générale Group.
