Consumer Finance is one of the main business lines within Specialized Financial Services of Société Générale Group. This activity answers all the financing needs of households with adapted offers for the purchase of equipment or services. Whether they need to buy a new household appliance or acquire a leisure boat.


Having operated in France and in Italy for many years, Société Générale Consumer Finance can today export its technical and commercial expertise all over the world to enlarge its coverage in new strategic area from Central and Oriental Europe to Asia, the Mediterranean Basin and the Americas. Our Consumer Finance subsidiaries are recognized for the quality of their financing products and their management know-how. They are the privileged partners of large retailers as well as of the Société Générale networks.

  • With an operational presence in 27 countries, our aim is to be a major player on international markets. The specialized consumer credit subsidiaries operate on the four main continents:

    -  In Europe, with subsidiaries including Fiditalia (Italy), Eurobank (Pologne), Hanseatic Bank(Germany), Rusfinance (Russia) and Essox (Czech Republic);
    -  In Africa, with Eqdom in Morocco;
    -  In America, with Banco Pecunia and Banco Cacique (Brazil);
    -  In Asia, with VietFinance (Viet Nam) and FamilyCredit (India).
  • In France:
    Franfinance is specialized in consumer credit and offers finance solutions for individuals (conventional credit or revolving credit) distributed directly or through partner signs.
    -  CGI / CGMer is specialized in vehicle finance and pleasure craft finance.
    -  France Crédit, specialized in credit consolidation.
    -  Disponis offers direct credit subscription via a call centre and an Internet site. Launched in June 2005, this new brand is proving successful, and has enabled us to develop a new channel to attract clients.

Business development officer

As commercial follow-up is today a way of asserting our professionalism and standing out from our competitors, the role of the business development officer is crucial.
In a agency, there are two business development officer profiles, and for many aspects they will have to work in pairs:

  • The prescription business development officer has a hands-on role in the canvassing for business, development and commercial follow-up of a portfolio of prescribers. The officer may also take on the role of "Quality Supervisor" for a specified period. In this case the mission consists of circulating information and following up quality management actions in the branch.
  • The office-based business development officer carries out commercial and administrative work in conjunction with the prescription business development officer, and may also take on the role of "Quality Supervisor" for a specified period.
This officer's main activities are:
        -  Examining files transmitted by opinion leaders (data input, screening, central bank controls, etc.)
        -  Taking phone calls from, or meeting, opinion leaders at the branch
        -  Telephone follow-up of active and inactive opinion leaders
        -  Following up local promotional offers
        -  Carrying out branch back-office tasks (complaints, change of domiciliation, itemised accounts, etc.)

Electronic payments expert

The electronic payments expert has a crucial role when we are planning to set up an electronics payment service enabling the issue of credit cards in a given country or entity. Through the knowledge of electronic payments circuits, cards and revolving credit enables the expert is able to carry out initial studies and then take part in the work leading to the deployment of the electronic payments IT tools. The expert's work consists particularly in :

  • implementing IT tools
  • drawing up general functional specifications and validating detailed specifications
  • analysing the needs of entities in functional terms, and with regard to local constraints and practices in the country concerned
  • participating in the drawing up of "core business" procedures, in conjunction with local entities

Head of projects

Quality is at the heart of our investment. The Head of projects draws on a comprehensive knowledge of our Group and its management rules to contribute to the successful running of the projects for which he is responsible.
The main mission consists in following up actions implemented to supply internal and external users of the area of expertise with finished products (analysis, design, realisation, acceptance test, and implementation).

The Head of projects has a wide range of activities:

  • Studies and specific reports (overview or analysis)
  • Initiation and responsibility for the follow-up of IT developments linked to the area of expertise (design, evolutive and corrective maintenance)
  • Acceptance tests of IT developments
  • Design of management procedures
  • Assistance and advice
  • Missions to enhance motivation
  • Support for users in managing change
  • Training
