"After obtaining a postgraduate diploma in business law in 1998, I was taken on as a litigation in-house lawyer in the Legal Department. In this first position I was able to familiarise myself with a large number of legal professions linked to the various activities of the Société Générale Group, and meet people with a wide range of backgrounds. These meetings opened up career prospects and led me, in the course of seven years, towards the setting up of a Legal Department in a common banking subsidiary created by Société Générale and the insurance company Groupama, before moving towards legal professions linked to the investment banking and market operations, such as in bond issues, and more recently in syndicated credits."
Legal Adviser - Litigation
For a bank of international stature, being able to rely on a legal team to prevent and settle litigation is strength. As a litigation in-house lawyers, you contribute your expertise in the prevention of potential conflicts.
You manage legal proceedings relating to banking litigation (not including recovery) and legal action taken against Société Générale and/or its subsidiaries in France or abroad (liability, criminal proceedings, labour litigation, French or international guarantees, etc).
Your field of intervention includes:
- Legal advice in matters of group action, measures of action, and judicial enquiries
- Managing actions to be taken in the event of legal action or threatened legal action against Société Générale.
Tax Advisor
The importance and complexity of tax procedures and obligations in financial matters make you a key player, at the heart of all the challenges facing the company. You ensure the legality of our activities and your advice is essential for optimum management of all operations carried out in relation to the tax administration.
Your mission consists of:
- Providing the Société Générale community with information, assistance and advice in tax matters.
- Making sure that declaratory and payment obligations in relation to the tax administration are met; following up verifications and disputes.
- Validating all operations or products having a significant impact on the Group's tax charge.

To maintain our international stature, it is essential that we guard against risks arising from illegal flows of money. You play a decisive role in our constant efforts to prevent the laundering of criminal funds and the concealed financing of terrorism.
You contribute to preventing the laundering of criminal funds and the financing of terrorism by:
- Analysing and quantifying the alerts activated by the tools available
- Passing on to operational staff the alerts which require local investigation
- Ensuring the operational staff is able to use the methods and tools made available to them for preventing money laundering.
Compliance Officer
In Compliance our Group has a proactive policy based on respect of the established rules and control of actions carried out in the various operational entities. This is an essential commitment, of which you are in charge.
To carry out this sensitive mission:
- You ensure that the operational entities comply with the rules established at Group level
- You propose and develop rules and procedures so that these obligations may be complied with
- You detect any non-ethical or illegal conduct
- You prepare any reports to be submitted to the supervisory authorities
Insurance Specialist
One of the keys to excellent performance is ensuring that our activities are well insured. It is your expertise and professionalism which enable our teams to successfully carry out their missions.
Your responsibilities are to:
- Study risks and draw up insurance policies.
- Follow them up and obtain the due compensation from insurers.
- Carry out legal and technical studies.
- Advise and assist Group entities.
