The key to your success is your ability to build on a personal and lasting relationship with each of your clients. Private Banking
After an initial experience on the financial market, I joined Societe Generale Group in Luxembourg in 1998 with the goal of developing and managing a non French speaking private clientele. In spite of the cultural differences that exist even in small details like work habits, I found myself in a very positive and constructive environment with people driven to succeed and help out, with a strong sense of open-mindedness and team spirit. Every effort is made to help us adapt to the professional environment.
Your technical skills mean that you are able to meet with existing and potential customers and outline a plan to optimise the management of their estate on the spot. You have the necessary skills to draw up a personalised analysis of a customer's wealth. This analysis shall also include proposals on how best to manage their investments and estate which you are then able to present and defend to existing and potential clients.

Private Banking
I built up my professional experience as a Middle Office employee in the Third Party Fund Trading branch of SGBT Luxembourg’s Securities Services department from 2003 to 2006.
I had the opportunity to advance to a company portfolio management position in the Financial and Wealth Engineering department, a well-acknowledged centre of expertise in the SG Private Banking business line.
As soon as I arrived in the department, I was handed a portfolio of companies to manage under the supervision of my manager and the head of the portfolio management department.
This is a truly exciting profession requiring dedication and constant adaptations to regulatory, legal and tax-related changes in order to provide our clients with the best possible service.
The development of synergies between the different teams is also very exciting.
As a portfolio manager, your role is to implement an investment and management strategy for the assets entrusted to you. You take positions on the financial markets to ensure the growth of the assets under management (securities, UCITS, investment funds, mutual funds, etc.) and optimise their performance, in accordance with both the legal constraints and risks linked to the management mandate signed by the client and the division's investment policies. You take part in the Investment Committees overseeing the major strategic decisions on asset allocation.
You draw up management reports for your clients which summarise the decisions taken on their portfolio and meet with them on a regular basis to review their positions.

Private Banking
After earning a Master's in Market Finance in 2006, I decided to join SG Private Banking's portfolio management team in Luxembourg. Specialising in fixed income instruments, my job is to invest the portfolios of high net worth private clients and institutional investors.
Through their enthusiasm and willingness to help, the people on my team showed me the multiple facets of a job at the hub of the bank's services. My job is a constant challenge that requires me to have a keen interest in the financial markets and the economy, to develop my ability to grasp the bigger picture, and to make decisions in an ever-changing environment. I'm also driven by an interest in taking on more responsibilities as I advance within the team. In the medium term, being a portfolio manager with Societe Generale opens doors to supervisory positions, particularly in terms of team leadership and management.
Your role is to calculate the net book value of the investment funds managed by Société Générale Securities Services.
Your responsibilities include:
- the entry of various data into the GP3 software package, either via the automatic entry of transactions from partners, or manually on the basis of the relevant data,
- ensuring that the net book values are correct.

Fund Administration Department
Right after earning my degree in accounting and management, I got the opportunity to join Societe Generale in Luxembourg as a fund accountant with the fund administration department run by its subsidiary, Euro-VL.
In partnership with the IFBL and ALFI, SGBT provided me with comprehensive training in investment funds.
At just over eight weeks, the training programme centred on the financial markets and investment fund accounting proved very effective.
I left the programme with a certification recognised on the financial market.
Thanks to this training and the strong sense of team spirit in my department, I felt much more comfortable and confident in my working environment and in my relations with other investment fund professionals (fund managers, custodian banks, auditors, etc.).
The unique entry point for our client relationship, you are in permanent contact with customers. Accordingly, your excellent interpersonal skills stand you in very good stead and are what guarantee the success of your different missions.
Your primary task is to manage customer relationships and oversee the processing and follow-up of clearing operations initiated by the division's clients. As such, your responsibilities include:
- cash/securities clearing: you ensure the transfer of all instructions to the settlement-delivery departments after carrying out the necessary provision checks;
- contact with clients and counterparties to ensure the smooth completion of transactions;
- the transmission of reports within the defined deadlines: suspense accounts, portfolio statements, cash account statements, account closure, invoicing;
- the handling of all customer queries and managing the customer relationship with other departments.
Working within the Société Générale Securities Services division (SGSS) in Luxembourg and the Global Fund Trading department, you are in charge of the entry, follow-up and execution of subscriptions and repurchases on On- and Offshore funds sent to all of the transfer agents around the world.
Your duties include:
- receiving and forwarding orders on On- and Offshore funds to all of the transfer agents around the world;
- analysing, completing and transferring any specific documentation needed to transfer fund orders as well as systematically analysing, completing and transferring the documentation needed for Offshore funds;
- the follow-up and execution of customer orders as well as the control of equalization shares and their entry in the accounts;
- resolving any mismatches between securities and cash linked to activities.

Fund trading desk
Your first real professional experience is never easy. The new environment, lack of experience and day-to-day rhythm all take some getting used to. But when I first came to Societe Generale Group, I was given the training I needed for my position and I was backed by a very professional support network.
The responsibilities I took on allowed me to quickly progress as part of a close-knit team that cared about helping me become acclimated. At the end of my first year, my experience has confirmed the impression I had of Societe Generale.
Part of a systems analysis team, you work on projects initiated within the bank.
A vital relay between the back- and middle-office users of the sales departments and the systems engineers, your role is to reconcile requests with the solutions under development.
You are responsible for the ongoing and corrective maintenance of applications. You oversee the analysis, design and preparation stages for the tests needed for new developments and manage all projects to ensure that they are completed within the set budgets and deadlines.

Fund Administration Department
I joined Societe Generale’s Securities Services department in Luxembourg in 2001. I was immediately impressed with the variety of professions there were and the quality of the employee relations within the company. Over the years, I have gravitated towards IT project management. My job is a key factor in the structuring of computer processes. My goal is to organise the developmental maintenance of the system, to analyse and propose solutions to system users and to work the IT project management team while observing the restrictions placed on our activity (developments, deadlines, budgets, etc.) to best meet our clients' requirements.
Our Group has 163,000 employees of 122 nationalities, present in 82 countries.
