Testimonies:

Amélie
Creation of an internal website

In order to complete my studies in an Engineer school with an IT option, I am doing a 7 months internship within the IT department of Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking. I was immediately interested by the mission because it gave me the possibility to improve my technical knowledge and was a formative life experience. Indeed, I work within a team of ten people creating an internal website for a support entity. I am in charge of the site deliveries’ management, the different site modules’ development, the site’s maintenance and evolution and of providing support to the users. During this internship, I can be on the client side while taking into account their new needs and on the development side while setting up the requested evolutions. I really like this internship because the team is very dynamic and the work is very interesting.

Stéphane
Network Infrastructure / IP Telephony

IP, a network communication protocol, and more particularly IPT (IP Telephony), the infrastructure allowing calls to be sent through the IT network is in full boom within Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking. Thus, it became essential to monitor this IPT platform. My internship took place in this context. In order to control these implementations and monitor and have a good visibility on the platform as a whole I set up a monitoring tool. This project was firstly intended to be used in Paris and was then expanded on the other Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking places such as Tokyo, Singapore, New York and many others. In parallel, I also worked on many other projects evolving around IPT such as: the setting up of generalised directories for the IPT platform or the study of a solution to pilot the phone from the PC as well as the study of written information diffusion on IP workstations through the XML technology, etc.
I particularly appreciate this internship both on the human and professional point of views. I have learned to evolve in a very demanding environment, where everybody has a specific place, role, where team spirit is ever-present and working takes another dimension.

Claire
Pricer Development in Trading Rooms

I am currently doing an internship in the Currency option trading room of Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking. My mission consists in enriching the pricing library used by traders dealing with exotic products. I thus have the opportunity to put in practice my knowledge in the IT, mathematics and finance domains. It also allows me to develop my competencies in terms of communication with traders and IT teams. I have been able to learn a lot on a technical level as well as in terms of project management and delivery. The team environment is very nice and agreeable. What is more, interns are well managed and put in contact with one another at their arrival. I have also had the opportunity to talk with people from other businesses: Middle Sales and Sales, which allowed me to acquire a global vision of finance. This internship reinforced my wish to work in finance and, ideally, within Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking.

Nicolas
Infrastructure Support

Within the Infrastructure Department, I have been doing an end-of-study internship for 5 months within the level 3 Support team. The different Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking technical supports are currently consulting a common knowledge base providing them information to solve most of their application issues. This base has been created a few years ago and support technicians needs as well as technical constraints have now evolved. I was asked, during my internship, to create this information system new version. I thus had the chance to start working on a large scale project. I worked in autonomy while benefiting from the help of the persons of my team. This internship allowed me to learn a lot on a technical point of view, to really learn about corporate life.

Julien

Business Analyst / Architect

I am currently doing my end-of-study internship within the IT Architect entity of the Investment Banking. I am a Business Analyst on the data archiving project within Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking. My internship consists in formalising and defining an action plan to be established in order to guarantee that legal and regulatory constraints about data archiving are applied within applications in case of legal argument. This mission allows me to acquire knowledge in project management and to get in contact with many interlocutors, from the Lawyer to the Data Base Administrator.
