A key bank-insurance player

We are the life and capitalisation insurance company of the Société Générale group. Our business is designing, developing and managing savings and personal protection products to be marketed primarily through the Société Générale network in France and abroad.

Our strength: a unique positioning on the market

Supported by strong integration with the Société Générale network in terms of marketing, product range, financial management and sales force management, we have chosen to buy in to the brand of the bank which markets our products(for example: Société Générale in France, NSGB Life in Egypt, and KB in the Czech Republic).

However, our professional expertise and our knowledge of the life insurance market enables our teams to support the bank network in designing and commercialising the products (marketing, training, sales development, technical support, etc.) and in their everyday management.

Four main businesses

We design savings products, personal protection products, retirement savings products for companies, and insurance lender products.

Today these businesses represent:

  • 8.1 million current policies
  • Almost 64 billion euros of assets under management (at 31/12/2008)
  • Turnover of  7.8 billion euros in 2008
  • The 4th-ranking bank-insurer with a 10% market share in this segment which accounts for 60% of total life insurance sales in France on its own.

Quality

In 2008, for the 4th consecutive year, Sogécap Group obtained renewal of its ISO 9001 certification for the whole of its business handling systems and customer service. The quality of the services we offer policyholders is regularly highlighted in the financial media and, in 2008, the Sogécap Group was awarded the Oscar for best policyholder service by the magazine “Gestion de Fortune” for the 9th year in a row.

Awards achived

The specialised financial media singled out Sogécap for a number of awards for the quality of its savings and personal protection policies.  These were some of the more important awards:
  • Labelled excellent 6 times by Les Dossiers de l’Epargne including 4 times for our personal protection range of policies,
  • 13 Oscars awarded by the magazine Gestion de Fortune,
    - 10 awards for Sogécap’s main savings products – Séquoia, Ebène, Erable and Epicéa – but also its personal protection plans and especially Garantie Obsèques Société Générale, which won an Oscar for the best funeral expenses insurance plan.
    - 3 awards also went to products from Oradéa vie, the Sogécap subsidiary devoted to partners outside Société Générale and particularly Oradéa Référence, which won an award for innovation in the Group policy category. 

Ambitious international expansion

Société Générale Insurance is the generic brand of our business line on international markets.
Thanks to the success of the bank-insurance model in France, and the quick development of the Société Générale group's businesses on international markets, we have already extended our presence to more than 15 countries.

By adapting to the diversity of demand from the Société Générale group networks, we are expanding our operations stage by stage alongside the Group:

  • first through individual personal protection and insurance lender products for the emerging markets,
  • then through savings products for more mature markets,
  • and finally by retirement savings and the financing of the employee benefit obligations of companies.
